It started out with our Senior Slingshot class and Tyler Pirone pulled away from last weeks winner Fred Cannock, to score his sixth win of the season. In the Junior Slingshot class, it was Kevin Predmore,Jr. picking up his eighth win of the season. The Heavys class had points leader Roger Belanger and Joe Falanga pull away from the pack with Roger taking the win for his third of the season. The Lights class had Glen Varner edging out Dylan Potter for his second win this season. Good race. The Junior Clone class had Jessica Mattera getting the win and Carissa June got the win in the Junior Rookie class. Good job by those two. Tyler Belanger continues to impress in the Junior 1 class as does TJ MacChurch and Robert Mattera in Kid Kart and Rookie Champ respectively.In the Junior 2 class it was a dominant Sarah Hoeffner cruising to the win, her fifth this season.

In the biggest class of the night with seventeen entered, it was the first time this season that someone named Hoeffner, Finley or Reynolds was not in victory lane. Dennis Mathews, close many times, finally got his first win at Oakland Valley Speedway,by a second  over Danny Hoeffner. He looked to be hooked up and drove very smooth. Great job by Dennis and his crew. In the Junior Sportsman Champ class, it was Anthony Wood picking up his second win this season (that’s my boy!!) over Kevin Wilbur and Jessica Mattera. Sean Glennon cruised in the Junior Sportsman Champ/Animal class.  Making his debut in the Senior Stock class this year, Vito Iannarella,Sr. pulled away for the win over Randy Brundage,  and in the Senior Rookie class it was Patrick Glennon taking the win in his first race with us. Great job by all the racers tonight and the track officials. Thanks to John Diotte for the great track surface.

Track will be closed for the Labor Day weekend.

Race # 17 results By John Sainz

August 21,2010; Points race #17 at Oakland Valley Speedway went by very smoothly and we were done around 9:00. Thanks to all the racers for their participation. The nights features started off as usual with our Senior Slingshot class, and fast Fred Cannock cruised to his fourth win of the season and in the Junior Slingshot class, it was Kevin Predmore,Jr. picking up his seventh win of the season. In the Heavys class, Vito Iannarella,Jr. crossed the finish line just ahead of Jeremy Todd and Kevin Morgan, for his second win of the season. In the Lights class, Steven Gully picked up his second win and second in a row, over Alex Wanerus and Rick Warr. Good job by Steven. In our Junior Clone class, the Mattera sisters, Jessica and Samantha, battled it out at the track, with Jessica Mattera picking up her ninth win of the season. This Junior Clone class has been running very fast each and every week, and it is a great and inexpensive way to get your kids into racing. They always have a great time at the track. Carissa June picked up her first win in the Junior Rookie class. Good job by Carissa. In the Junior 2 class, Colin Belanger motored away to the win, but David Holowach was involved in a last lap incident where he had contact with the wall coming out of turn 2. He was visibly shaken up and a little banged up, but he was ok. Hope to see him back at the track next week. In the Junior Stock class, Brendan Finley picked up his sixth win of the season over Stephen Reynolds. Robert Mattera cruised to the checkered flag in the Rookie Champ class, and he looks ready to move into the Junior Sportsman Champ class. Robert Reynolds picked up his second win in the Senior Rookie class, and  in the Senior Stock class, it was John Sainz getting the win with a hard charging Aaron Turner right on his bumper. Fun battle for the points lead between those two. Great time had by all. Race # 16 results By John Sainz

August 14,2010; Points race #16 at Oakland Valley Speedway was a fast one today. The track surface was fast and the lap times showed it. Thanks to John Diotte for the track preparation. The features started off with the Senior Slingshot class and Steven VanValkenburg is on a roll. He picked up his second win in a row,and second of the season, with Tyler Pirone close behind. In the Junior Slingshot class, Kevin Predmore,Jr. picked up his third win in a row, his sixth overall. In the Heavys class, it was Jimmy Allen cruising to the win, for his second of the season. He looked to be hooked up really well, powered by a JK Performance Racing Engine. Great job by Jimmy. In the Lights class, Steven Gully earned his first win of the season in a close battle with a hard charging Alex Wanerus right on his bumper. The Junior Stock class had Brendan Finley picking up his fifth win of the season over Stephen Reynolds. The Junior Sportsman Champ class had an exciting race with Paulie Tigue,Jr. and Sean Glennon bumper to bumper for almost every lap,with Paulie taking the win. Great job by those two guys. Clean racing. In the Senior Stock class, Aaron Turner took the win and the points lead over John Sainz, for his third win of the season.  Good job Aaron. Race # 15 results By John Sainz

August 7, 2010; What a day of racing at Oakland Valley Speedway. A lot of exciting ,close finishes were the order of the day. It started out again with our Senior Slingshot class and  Steven VanValkenburg edges out a charging Joey Massimilla for his first win of the season.In the Junior Slingshot it was Kevin Predmore,Jr. picking up his second win in as many races. The Heavys class, always having the most action, didn’t disappoint  this time either. It took them a little while to get it going, with some laps going as many as four wide at times.  Roger Belanger took the win, in a hard fought battle with Jason Wolfe and Jimmy Allen, for his second win this season. And for the first time in nine races, there is no Danny Hoeffner in victory lane. In a great race ,Brendan Finley took the win over Hoeffner, for his fourth win of the season. Great job by Brendan. In the Lights class, Ryan Edwards picked up his fourth win also, followed closely by Alex Arndt and Corey Wood. The Senior Stock class had a great battle between Aaron Turner and John Wolfe, going back and forth for quite a few laps, with John Wolfe taking the checkered flag. Great clean hard racing. I had the best seat to see it as I was right behind them. Great job by both of them. The World Modified Tour was in town and Kenny Lund cruised to the win in their feature race. Thanks to all who came out today. Don’t forget to stop by JK Performance Kart shop at the track for all your karting need and rental karts. Practice this Friday night at 5pm.See you next week.

July 10, 2010; A rainy morning gave way to a beautiful sunny afternoon, although a little humid, John Diotte and his track crew got the track into good racing condition. Starting a little later than normal, due to track preparation, the Senior Slingshots were first to go out with Fred Cannock taking the win and Kevin Predmore,Jr.  winning the Junior Slingshot race. Newcomer Rick Warr took the win in the Senior Rookie race over hard charging Angela Roselli. The Junior Stock class had Danny Hoeffner picking up his sixth win in a row. He is on fire!

Glen Varner picked up his first win of the season in the Lights class after many second place finishes. Good job Glen. Junior 2 class had Colin Belanger winning ,but did not get finishing order in time for this report. Will try to update later. Senior Stock had John Sainz picking up his second win, but  in the second heat race Wayne Utter tagged the turn two wall pretty hard and did not make the feature. Spoke with him afterwards and he was banged up, but OK. Hope to see Wayne back racing soon. Exciting Heavys race saw Vito Iannarella,Jr take the win on a last lap restart over Roger Belanger in a very close finish. Anthony Wood picked up his first win at Oakland Valley Speedway in the Junior Sportsman Champ class. Great job by Anthony. The last feature of the night was in the World Formula Modified karts with Tommy Kosch taking the win there. Great job by all the drivers. We have seven more races in a row before the next day off so be ready for some of the best racing action in the area. See you next week.

June 26, 2010; With the threat of rain throughout the evening, we were able to complete all of our races, with the rain starting after completion of the events.  The nights racing started off with Tyler Pirone picking up his third win of the season and Brendan Finley picking up his first win in the Junior Slingshot class. The Junior Stock class had Danny Hoeffner picking up his fifth win in the first ten races. The Junior Stock class was one of the fastest classes of the night with the top six running high thirteen to low fourteen second laps. Close finish at the end with Stephen Reynolds only one tenth of a second behind Danny. Paulie Tigue Jr. picked up his ninth win in ten races in the Junior Sportsman Champ class and with Anthony Wood improving every time out, he may be challenging Paulie soon.Also Colin Belanger  picked up his seventh win in Junior 2 class, good job by those two drivers. In the Heavys class,Jeremy Todd picked up his third win in a row over Roger Belanger. Jeremy seems to have his kart dialed in just right. In the Lights class, current points leader Corey Wood picked up his first win of the year in a tight battle with Stephanie and Steven Gully. Very good race. Great job by all the racers and track officials. The track will be closed next weekend, so we hope you will be there on July 10 for the next race. Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.

Strong run by Edwards. Also there was a one lap elimination shootout race, sponsored by Jay’s Pools, for the top 5 in points for the Lights class. Top prize was taken by Glen Varner. Lots of great action, with a very intense Heavys race, going three wide into the corners at times, Jeremy Todd took the win in that race. One race was made up from June 5 in the Senior Rookie class with Angela Roselli taking the win, and then again winning the Sr. Rookie race for tonight also. Fred Cannock picked up the win in the Senior Slingshot race by over three seconds. Great job by the track officials, who always try to be fair with everyone and call it like they see it. It’s a tough job. Don’t forget that JK Performance has rental karts available,so come on out and give kart racing a try. You will get hooked on it! See you next week at the track. Also there will be practice on Friday night June 25 from 5 to 9pm.

June 5, 2010; Racing resumed at Oakland Valley Speedway after a week off for the 8th points race of the season. It all started off well, with practices and heat races moving right along. Then most of the way through the second round of heats the clouds got very dark, and then the rain came down with some pretty bad thunder and lightning. Track officials waited out the downpour, and valiantly attempted to bring the track back into racing condition, but it started showering again. So the race was called an official race, being that all but one class had completed two heats. No lap times were available for this report. Senior Rookie Class will finish their race at the next event. We also had the World Formula Modified Tour stop in for their race with 13 entries competing. Tommy Kosch took the win as they were the only class to complete a feature. Thanks to all the track personnel for all their hard work and thanks to all the participants for their patience with the weather delay. We are off again next week, so now there is time to get those karts fixed up if needed and ready for the summer stretch. See you in two weeks.

May 22, 2010: The evenings features started off with Matt Reiley picking up his fourth win of the season in Sr. Slingshots, followed by Hamlin Speedway’s Chris Kurtz picking up the win in Jr. Slingshots in a close battle with Danny Buccafusca. Paulie Tigue,Jr. continued his winning ways as he picked up his sixth win in seven Jr Sportsman Champ races. Colin Belanger dominated the Jr.2 race after a two week absence, with defending Heavy’s Track Champion, Roger Belanger picking up his first win of the season. Very good class of Heavy’s this year. The Senior Stock class is up and running again, looking to add a few more drivers to the class. Danny Hoeffner broke the tie with Stephen Reynolds and Brendan Finley by picking up his third win of the season in the always exciting to watch Junior Stock class, and JJ Pacovich picked up his second win in the Lights class by less than half a second over Glen Varner. JK Performance had a great night with wins in Jr. 1, Jr.2, Heavy’s and Senior Stock. JK Performance Kart Shop is located right at the track, stop in and see John Diotte Jr. for all your karting needs. Also rental karts too.
